Job Description:

Overall Job Purpose: As a Civil Engineer, you will report to the Assistant Technical Manager and be responsible for establishing preventative and responsive civil fixed plant maintenance within the FQM Trident mine process plant. Your role will ensure maximum operational performance is achieved in a safe and cost-effective manner.

Specific Job Responsibilities:

Provide guidance on the installation/maintenance of new civil structures and replacement of old structures within the process plant, adhering to safety and quality specifications.
Review plans, specifications, and cost estimates for civil works.
Supervise site labour force and subcontractors, ensuring work is completed to standards.
Verify plans, drawings, and quantities for accuracy.
Educate, train, and develop graduate civil engineers.
Prepare progress and completion reports as required.

Job Specific Competencies:

Understanding design and as-built drawings of site infrastructure.
Analytical skills to assess solutions and solve engineering problems.
Proficiency in using modern engineering tools and software.
Working knowledge of Windows computer systems and Microsoft Office software.
Valid Zambian driving licence.
Demonstrated ability to work safely and improve team safety awareness.
Application of continuous improvement plans.

Experience Required:

7+ years’ experience in process plant civil environment.
5+ years’ experience in civil construction works.
Good knowledge of dam construction or maintenance is advantageous.
Proficiency in using mechanical measuring instruments.
Ability to read civil drawings and mentor others in this process.

Qualifications:

Grade 12 school certificate.
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
Registered member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ).
Ability to register as a member of the Engineering Registration Board of Zambia (ERB).
