Job Description:

Overall Job Purpose: The role of Belt Splicer is crucial in managing the conveyor belt splicing section to provide plant and workshop support services at the Sentinel Mine site. This position aims to maximize resource utilization, achieve cost savings, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and leverage synergies within the area. Responsibilities include conveyor belt maintenance activities to uphold safety and productivity standards, meeting safety, cost, and production targets.

Specific Job Responsibilities:

Promote a culture of continuous improvement.
Perform preventive maintenance (PM) on conveyor belts and report to the supervisor.
Install new conveyor belts and replace existing ones.
Execute plant shutdown tasks within designated area.
Enhance safety performance across the workforce.
Contribute positively to company performance through individual activities.
Undertake plant maintenance and workshop tasks.
Perform cold and hot splicing as well as repairs on conveyor belts.

Experience required:

Minimum of 2 – 5 years’ experience in a maintenance role covering belt splicing works.
Experience in high-output workshops with expertise in splicing & rubber initiatives.
Ability to identify causes of damage to conveyor belts and pulley lagging works.
Familiarity with measuring counterweight slack as per splicing procedure.
Proficiency in interpreting belt splicing manuals and using modern splicing equipment.
Hands-on experience with large multi-skill operations in tight time restrictions.
Experience with fixed plant maintenance is advantageous.

Qualifications:

Minimum of grade 12 certificate.
Relevant certification with experience in rubber & belt splicing repairs in fixed plant & workshop relining environments.
