Job Description:

Overall Job Purpose: As an Artisan Mechanic, you will be responsible for safely executing fleet maintenance work according to prescribed standards while ensuring the safety of yourself and others.

Specific Job Responsibilities:

Diagnosing mechanical and electrical problems using electronic scanners/diagnostic tools.
Repairing and servicing all heavy equipment products within established standards.
Completing preventive maintenance tasks such as engine tune-ups, oil changes, and filter replacements.
Lubricating equipment according to established procedures.
Keeping equipment available for use by inspecting and testing vehicles.
Maintaining vehicle functional condition and addressing operator complaints.
Completing work order closure sheets and recording service and repairs.
Replacing parts and components as needed.
Conducting test drives to verify vehicle serviceability.
Maintaining excellent customer relations through effective communication.
Preparing accurate service and repair reports in a timely manner.
Complying with state vehicle requirements and safety standards.
Ensuring daily housekeeping standards are met.
Performing any other duties as instructed by the Direct Line Supervisor.

Job Specific Competencies:

Troubleshooting skills.
Willingness to work standby, overtime, and shifts as necessary.
Ability to work in environments with dust, heat, and noise.
PC literacy.
Understanding of site permit requirements.
Familiarity with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
Valid Silicosis certificate.

Experience Required:

Minimum of 3 years relevant experience as a qualified Artisan HER.

Qualifications:

Grade 12 certificate with 5 O’Levels.
Craft Certificate from a recognized institution.
Membership of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
Valid Silicosis certificate.
Valid Driver’s licence.
