The Small Industries Development Organization (SIDO) is seeking a qualified and dynamic individual to fill the position of Director of Training and Extension Services. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development and growth of small industries in Tanzania.

Job Summary:

As the Director of Training and Extension Services, you will play a key role in providing technical support to regional offices for extension services and business training. Your responsibilities will include conducting training sessions, assessing training needs, and initiating policies and programs to enhance the knowledge and skills of staff. Additionally, you will be responsible for developing and reviewing departmental work plans and budgets, as well as fostering partnerships with strategic stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provide technical support to regional offices for extension services and business training.
  2. Conduct training for business trainers/advisors and introduce new products.
  3. Provide information and materials in the area of business support services.
  4. Organize the exchange of information and experience between regional offices.
  5. Conduct assessment and monitoring of training needs within the organization.
  6. Initiate policies, programs, procedures, and practices to develop/improve knowledge, skills, and attitudes of staff.
  7. Implement the development of new products, conduct pilot testing, and institutionalize successful products in regional offices.
  8. Prepare and review departmental annual work plans and budgets.
  9. Review departmental reports against approved work plans and budget.
  10. Develop reporting guidelines and standards within the organization’s policy framework.
  11. Carry out performance appraisal of staff.
  12. Assess training needs and arrange training for staff.
  13. Liaise with regional offices and Local Government Authorities (LGA) to ensure inclusivity in district development plans.
  14. Identify suitable land for work premises for industrial clusters, incubation, and other programs.
  15. Identify strategic partners and safeguard the organization’s interests in partnerships.

Qualification and Experience:

  • Holder of a Master’s Degree in Economics, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Commerce, or Business Administration majoring in Marketing, or equivalent qualifications from recognized institutions.

Remuneration: PGSS 14
