The Community You Will Join:
The Cilium team comprises distributed subject matter experts in Kubernetes, Cloud Native technologies, networking, eBPF, and Linux Kernel development.
About This Role:
As an integral member of the Cilium team, you will play a vital role in developing high-performance eBPF code for Isovalent’s open-source projects—Cilium, Hubble, and Tetragon. Your contribution will drive innovation in Kubernetes, Cloud Native technologies, networking, and Linux Kernel development. This role allows you to leverage your expertise to shape the future, collaborating with a global community of users.
A Typical Day:
- Developing high-quality eBPF code for Cilium, Hubble & Tetragon open source projects while adhering to open-source development principles and best practices.
- Engaging in Linux Kernel upstream development.
- Actively participating in the open-source community.
- Opportunity to speak at public conferences about achievements if desired.
Job Requirements:
Your Expertise:
- Computer Science degree or equivalent experience.
- Multiple years of experience with C and eBPF knowledge. GO knowledge is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of Linux systems design and expertise in either security or networking.
- Desire to write high-quality and efficient code.
- A public track record of open-source code commits is a plus.
- Experience in public speaking at technical open-source conferences is a plus.

As part of the hiring process, Isovalent may conduct a background check through a 3rd party with the applicant’s consent. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary depending on the local market.
Minimum salary: $140,000
Maximum salary: $220,000
These pay ranges are intended to cover roles based across the United States. The actual offer depends on various factors including geographic location, experience, and skills of the applicant.
Location: In this role, you can work remotely from anywhere, with a preference for candidates in the US and Europe time zones.
