Role’s Summary: The Chief Financial Officer will be responsible for preparing and implementing Financial Strategy, policies, procedures, and financial control framework to ensure the achievement of financial objectives, controls, financial stability, and leading Finance functions.

KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Business Management and Planning

• Prepare financial projections and budgets aligned with the business plan and seek approval from the board of directors.
• Collaborate with the finance department of KDT and KDT’s contracted companies to devise and prepare an annual budget for review and approval by each Company’s board.
• Assess potential investment opportunities, monitor investment performance, and make recommendations to the CEO and boards of directors.
• Implement financial software to improve operations.
• Oversee Finance, Accounts, and Taxation matters, ensuring proper accounting records, reporting cycles, and associated engagements are in line with regulatory and organizational requirements.
• Improve the cost management framework for sustainable cost savings.
• Support and challenge business functions to achieve budgets, developing performance measures supporting the Group’s strategic direction.

2. Risk Management and Compliance

• Establish and implement internal controls for efficient financial operations.
• Develop efficient operational processes, systems, and data for the organization’s finance activities.
• Manage financial risk by complying with company-required Governance, policies, and SOPs.
• Maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring external compliance, and relations with auditors, tax authorities, and regulators.
• Ensure Financial and Accounting policies & procedures comply with statutory regulations and Tanzanian standards.

3. Team Management (Building a strong and efficient Finance Team)

• Lead the finance team, ensuring effective support for the company’s financial operations.
• Provide leadership and mentorship within the Finance Department and the overall group.
• Collaborate with P&C to identify, develop, and position talent within the group.
• Establish clear succession and talent management strategies.
• Develop the team through training, addressing training and development needs, and coaching on planning and performance management.
• Ensure the finance team has the necessary resources to meet the company’s financial goals.

PROFESSIONAL AND INTERPERSONAL DETAILS

Education:

• Master’s Degree or equivalent, CPA/Chartered Accounting Qualification.
• Advanced experience with Microsoft software packages.

Experience and Skills:

• Ten (10) years’ experience with a minimum of seven (7) years in a reputable organization.
• Exceptional communication skills in English (written and verbal), with practical Swahili skills as an added advantage.
• Organized, systematic, and committed to meeting tight reporting deadlines.
• Positive, caring, and values-oriented.
• Respectful and appreciative of Tanzanian society, culture, and laws.
• Professional, influential, and collaborative approach to stakeholders.
• Effective Communicator.
