The Geological Survey of Tanzania (GST) is inviting qualified and motivated individuals to apply for the position of Assistant Technician (Cartographer). This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to geological and mineral research in Tanzania.

Job Summary:

The Assistant Technician (Cartographer) will play a crucial role in supporting cartographic work, including the preparation of equipment/tools, maintenance of records, and assisting in the production of map prints. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team working on geo-scientific maps and aerial photos.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in the preparation of equipment/tools for cartographic work.
  2. Arrange, maintain, and keep records of aerial photos, topographic, and geo-scientific maps.
  3. Assist in the production of dyeline map prints.
  4. Perform any other official duties as assigned by the immediate Supervisor.

Qualification and Experience:

  • Holder of Form IV/VI certificate and Trade Test Grade II.
  • Certificate in Cartography or equivalent in the relevant field from a recognized institution.

Remuneration: GSTS 2
