AIRD is dedicated to providing operational support, including supply chain, logistics, construction, infrastructure, environment, livelihoods, and WASH, in partnership with relief and development organizations. AIRD works with various partners, including UN agencies, international and national donor organizations, and governments.

Position Overview:

AIRD is seeking a dynamic and experienced Country Program Director to lead its Tanzania operations. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in steering AIRD Tanzania through a transformative period, expanding beyond humanitarian logistics to contribute to long-term development initiatives. The role requires a seasoned leader with a strong background in humanitarian logistics, coupled with expertise in designing, resourcing, and managing developmental initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. General Duties:
    • Build and maintain a strong senior leadership team.
    • Lead the design, implementation, and growth of Country Program (CP) activities.
    • Direct the mobilization, management, and accounting of all resources in the Country Program.
    • Oversee the management and development of Country Program Human Resources.
    • Provide leadership and support for the development and implementation of an effective Resource Development Strategy.
  2. Specific Duties:

    • Manage and grow AIRD’s traditional business of logistics services to UNHCR and other donors.
    • Expand long-term development activities, expertise, resource-base, and funding in Tanzania.
    • Diversify the CP portfolio by identifying key interventions, reaching new funding partners, and drafting high-quality proposals.
    • Ensure proper registration and compliance with statutory regulations related to INGOs.
    • Lead the development and execution of a high-quality country strategy for AIRD in Tanzania.
    • Act as a key contact with head office, local partners, NGOs, UN agencies, local authorities, government authorities, and donors.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Advanced University Degree in Project Planning and Management, International Relations, International Development, or a related field.
  • 10 or more years of experience in a senior management position in international development.
  • Proven track record of program management, successful fundraising, and strategic leadership.
  • Experience in applying new technologies to programming or influencing program design.
  • Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships.
  • Proficiency in French and English (written and spoken).
