Salary Ranges:
- Designated Migration Officer: TSh 50,882,255 during pre-designation period; TSh 85,970,750 for fully designated LE-O2
- Designated Migration Officer – Temporary Residents: TSh 37,977,777 during pre-designation period; TSh 50,882,255 for fully designated LE-O1
Job Summary:
Migration Program Officers play a vital role in assessing applications for permanent and temporary residency to Canada under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA). Responsibilities include application assessment, final decision-making, and adherence to complex legislation. Additional duties may involve composing reports, briefings, presentations, research, and analysis of application trends. Effective communication with clients, partners, and stakeholders is essential, as well as participation in promotion and recruitment activities.
IRCC Locally Engaged Migration Officer Development Program (LEMO-DP):
Selected candidates will participate in the Locally Engaged Migration Officer Development Program (LEMO-DP) to acquire necessary skills and expertise. Successful designation within the program leads to promotion to LE-O2 (Designated Migration Officer) or LE-O1 (Designated Migration Officer – Temporary Residents).
Essential Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree from a university
- Language: Advanced level in English (written and spoken), Advanced level in French (written and spoken)
- Experience: Experience in analyzing complex problems, composing correspondence, reports, or briefings
Rated Requirements:
Assessment of knowledge, abilities, and competencies may include written examinations, interviews, role-plays, practical tests, presentations, and/or psychometric assessments.

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates with additional qualifications, including experience in leadership roles, knowledge of regulations, supervisory experience, research, communication, data analysis/analytics, migration issues, law, and experience in a diplomatic mission or international organization.
Operational Requirements:
- Willingness to travel within Tanzania and internationally
- Ability to work overtime on short notice (weekdays and/or weekends)
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment
- Sustained periods of sitting and eye focus
- 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Conditions of Employment:
Candidates must meet conditions of employment, including valid work authorization and obtaining/maintaining a Reliability Status (security level). Successful designation and graduation from LEMO-DP are mandatory.
