Job Summary:
SELF Microfinance Fund invites applications for the position of Credit Officer II. There are 2 vacant positions for individuals passionate about finance, banking, and microfinance. Successful candidates will contribute to the Fund’s growth by conducting awareness campaigns, credit appraisals, and ensuring compliance with credit approval terms.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Undertake awareness raising and sensitization of wholesale and retail clients.
  2. Conduct area mapping and active marketing campaigns, visiting potential customers to attract new clients.
  3. Liaise closely with Fund’s borrowers to ensure timely loan repayments.
  4. Conduct credit appraisals for loan applicants and recommend eligible borrowers.
  5. Prepare and present credit appraisal reports to the Branch Manager for review and approval.
  6. Ensure the Branch meets or exceeds the loan targets as per the business plan.
  7. Conduct client de-briefing during loan releases.
  8. Report and assist the Fund’s Legal Officer in litigation matters against borrower clients.
  9. Prepare and present credit applications to the Branch Manager for review and recommendation for approval.
  10. Prepare and submit loan portfolio management reports to the Branch Manager for review and guidance.
  11. File out loan applications, credit analysis, and loan request summaries, submitting them to loan committees for approval.
  12. Ensure post-disbursement compliance with approved terms and conditions.
  13. Review expiry of credits, progress of repayment, insurance, and post-fact mortgage.
  14. Control the recording, deposit, and withdrawal of security documentation.
  15. Be responsible for collateral valuation, monitoring, and reconciliation with original documents.
  16. Ensure compliance with credit approval terms, conditions, and regulatory requirements.
  17. Prepare complete and accurate loan agreements according to applicable policies.
  18. Evaluate clients’ credit data and financial statements to determine lending risks.
  19. Consult credit associations and references to exchange credit information on clients.
  20. Evaluate clients’ financial status by producing financial ratios.
  21. Make recommendations about procedural/policy changes.
  22. Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualification and Experience:

  • Holders of a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Banking, Financial Management, Development Finance and Investment Planning, Microfinance, Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Economics, Agricultural Economics, Commerce, or Business Administration majoring in either Finance, Banking, Microfinance, Accounting, Entrepreneurship, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
