Position Overview

Food for His Children (FFHC), a Christian community development organization dedicated to eradicating extreme poverty in rural Tanzania, is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual for the position of Human Resource Manager. This role will play a crucial part in shaping the organizational culture and ensuring a productive and harmonious work environment.

Location: Arusha, Tanzania

Reports To: Director of Partnerships & Program Development

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

Human Resources:

  • Partner with the Operations Consultant to create a culture of excellence based on Christian principles.
  • Mentor FFHC staff and volunteers to be Christlike, identify and use their gifts, and further the organization’s mission.
  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the overall business strategy.
  • Manage recruitment, selection, and talent retention.
  • Oversee performance appraisal and ensure timely reviews.
  • Assess training needs and recommend programs.
  • Manage disciplinary procedures when necessary.
  • Coach employees to optimize their capabilities.
  • Ensure the organization is staffed with qualified and motivated individuals.
  • Collaborate with the executive management team on hiring, training, and compensation plans.

Policy and Procedures:

  • Develop and implement efficient internal processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Establish policies promoting organizational culture and vision.
  • Review legal documents related to personnel matters and ensure compliance.
  • Monitor compliance with local and national labor laws and regulations.
  • Manage contract negotiations, review, and statutory compliance related to staff matters.
  • Collaborate on the review and improvement of business strategies, plans, and policies.

Payroll, Timesheets, & Personnel Expense, & Office Supplies Management:

  • Manage timesheets, payroll, and staff benefits.
  • Track annual leave, sick time, and medical benefits.
  • Ensure proper tracking of office supplies.

Qualifications

  • Desire to live and lead with Christian values.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Community Development, Nonprofit Management, Human Resources, or related field.
  • Minimum three years of experience in an HR role.
  • Experience managing a team is preferred.
  • Demonstrable experience with HR metrics.
  • Knowledge of HR systems and databases.
  • In-depth knowledge of labor law and HR best practices.
  • People-oriented, organized, empathetic, and strives for excellence.
  • Experience in managing conflict and promoting resolutions.
  • Proficient with computers and MS Office, including QuickBooks and other database systems.
