Role Overview: Good Neighbors Tanzania is seeking a qualified individual for the role of Operations Manager. Reporting to the Country Director, the Operations Manager will oversee and direct all aspects of Operation, Sponsorship Service, and Income Generation Departments. This includes ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, managing operations, communication, program planning, Design, Monitoring and Evaluation (DME), budgeting, staff management, mentorship, and development.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Operation, Sponsorship Service, and Income Generation Departments, providing day-to-day directions and monitoring progress.
  • Set annual office plans, job descriptions, and individual plans for team members, ensuring annual implementation.
  • Assist in staff planning and recruitment based on office needs.
  • Conduct staff performance evaluations and support management decisions based on performance results.
  • Conduct monthly office meetings to assess status and progress of work.
  • Prepare, check, review, and approve reports, staff applications, work plans, BRQs, FSS, and other documents within the department.
  • Ensure efficiency in operations, procedures, and systems based on organization needs and requirements.
  • Oversee research for the establishment of new Community Development Projects.
  • Coordinate and establish partnerships with government and non-government organizations in the community.
  • Review, consolidate, and submit thematic/periodic reports, annual action plans, and activity plans in all assigned Community Development Projects.
  • Consolidate and submit monthly reports on Operation team findings and key indicators to SMT meetings.
  • Plan, implement, and finalize procedures and projects construction works.
  • Organize meetings with the community and other stakeholders in all assigned Community Development Projects.
  • Oversee and organize monitoring and evaluation of all assigned projects, setting M&E plans and tools.
  • Plan, execute, and manage project development from beginning to end.
  • Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
  • Draft and submit budget proposals and recommend changes where necessary.
  • Organize periodic/regular meetings and prepare and submit minutes to CD.
  • Develop networks and partnerships with national/regional/international institutions.
  • Facilitate the implementation of all mandatory services delivered to sponsored children/families.
  • Review and maintain proper records of all children’s data for proper monitoring and management.
  • Communicate with IHQ/GPC/management on sharing Country Plan/Report/Cases related to sponsorship management.
  • Communicate with Stakeholders [Co NGO/ LGAs] to strengthen partnerships during activity/program implementations.
  • Facilitate partnership with stakeholders/beneficiaries [CDCs, teachers, LGAs, parents, or children] for project sustainability.
  • Plan, control, and monitor all budgets related to child case management and development.
  • Organize, conduct, and coordinate conferences, seminars, workshops, and other events for income generation participant groups.
  • Manage the group loan program and prepare loan repayment plans and databases.
  • Prepare/revise concept notes and proposals for Income Generation projects.
  • Organize, participate in regular meetings with Income Generation group participants and associated beneficiaries.
  • Partner with project stakeholders to plan, implement, and monitor income generation activities.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • A University Degree in Social Studies, Economics Development Planning, Community Development, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience in Community Development Projects.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience at the management level.
  • Exceptional time, task, and resource management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, coaching, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Competent and experienced in project planning, implementation, Monitoring, evaluation, redesigning, budget development tracking, and reporting.
  • Interpersonal – Relates well to people from different cultures with diverse backgrounds in a multicultural, team-oriented environment.
  • Computer proficiency in Ms Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Internet access.
