Job Description:

  • Ensure compliance with clinical duties allocated within the unit, including clinic, wards, delivery suite, and theatres.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and data collection systems, including filling MTUHA and other register books.
  • Properly dispose of clinical waste.
  • Provide health education and family planning counseling to antenatal and postnatal women and families.
  • Independently conduct normal and abnormal deliveries, including twins and breech.
  • Care for high-risk patients and manage obstetric emergencies, such as pre-eclampsia, eclampsia, and postpartum hemorrhage.
  • Perform assisted deliveries in emergency situations.
  • Rotate through all clinical departments as required.
  • Undertake any other roles and responsibilities defined by the management team.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery or Midwifery.
  • Registered by the Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council with a current practicing license.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in a hospital/healthcare setting, with at least 2 years in the labor ward.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council guidelines, policies, ethics, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of labor ward guidelines, including management of dangerous drugs, PMTCT-1, and oxytocin administration. Training in CeMOC or Bmoc is advantageous.
  • Understanding of IPC and 5-S principles.
  • Kind, team player, and able to work with minimal supervision.
