Position Description:
Bulyanhulu Gold Mine is seeking to recruit three Ventilation Technicians to join and contribute to our team. Responsibilities:
- Ensure adherence to safe work practices and report all incidents according to procedure and on time.
- Strive for Zero Fatality, Zero Lost Time Injuries (LTI), and Zero Medically Treated Injuries (MTI) within the department, and promptly report incidents.
- Identify, report, and rectify all unsafe acts, situations, and hazards within the working areas.
- Conduct primary and secondary ventilation surveys, prepare reports, and communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Perform dust monitoring, noise and fan pressure surveys, and measure Diesel Particulate Matter (DPM).
- Update, print, and post mine ventilation and rescue plans every three months in designated locations.
- Identify new fan installation locations and update the fan register.
- Ensure servicing of fans from mined-out areas before relocating to another location.
- Conduct routine inspections of underground Refuge Chambers and update their status.
- Monitor the performance and calibration of underground gas monitoring instruments.
- Track monthly mine ventilation duct usage by section and manage inventory.
- Prepare ventilation field instructions and ensure their implementation.
- Provide ventilation inputs in mine plans and stope notes.
- Collaborate with mining, construction, operation, electrical, and engineering teams on ventilation-related tasks.
- Fulfill other duties and responsibilities as required by the Technical Services Department.
Qualification Requirements:
- Diploma in mining engineering or equivalent.
- Valid Tanzania Driving License.
Experience And Skills Requirements:
- Understanding of the underground mine environment and willingness to work underground for extended periods.
- Familiarity with basic mine ventilation concepts.
- Proficiency in verbal communication in English and Swahili.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office package and willingness to learn mine software like Deswik CAD, VentSim, etc.
- Competence in using ventilation measuring instruments such as anemometers, whirling hygrometer, etc.
- Capacity to establish priorities, work independently, and achieve objectives without supervision.
- Possession of a valid Tanzania driving license and ability to drive light vehicles underground.
- Underground working experience, particularly in ventilation, will be advantageous.
