Key Relationships:
- Reports to: Tanzania Board of Directors; with dotted line supervision to the DSVP, Country Team Liaison
- Directly supervises: Leaders in Programs, Finance and Operations, and HR
Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Implementation:
- Directly manage administrative and operational aspects to ensure proper program implementation compliant with Tanzanian law, Americares policies, and donor regulations.
- Analyze and address gaps in program implementation, ensuring effective training, design, evaluation, and compliance.
- Develop and maintain impactful partnerships and collaborate with HQ teams for global program integration.
Finance and Resource Management:
- Oversee fiscal soundness, internal controls, and financial reporting compliance.
- Provide leadership for efficient resource management, procurement, and ethical stewardship.
People Management:
- Manage the Tanzania team, modeling the organizational code of conduct and values.
- Implement equity and people operations procedures, ensuring staff handbook compliance.
- Lead diversity, equity, and inclusion practices, overseeing the entire employee life cycle vision.
Communications and New Business Development:
- Lead external communication and marketing strategy in coordination with HQ standards.
- Represent Americares Tanzania at conferences, events, and with the press.
- Collaborate on identifying, securing, and maintaining diverse funding sources.
Legal and Compliance:
- Serve as the legal representative, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.
- Report to Americares Tanzania Board, addressing legal compliance and risk matters.
- Partner with HQ Legal Department to mitigate potential legal issues.
Security, Health and Safety:
- Implement safety and security policies, ensuring staff adherence.
- Collaborate with HQ Safety and Security for risk mitigation and healthy work environments.
Competencies/Qualifications Required:
- Postgraduate degree in relevant field.
- Executive-level experience in program and operational management.
- Deep knowledge of health equity and health system strengthening.
- Effective resource and donor stewardship.
- Excellent people management and leadership competencies.
- Commitment to leading diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Fluency in Swahili and English.
- Proficiency in Office 365.
- Willingness to travel (up to 25% of the time).
Desirable Competencies:
- Leadership of USAID projects in Tanzania.
- Experience in RMNCH, WASH, and related health focus areas.
- Fluency in additional Tanzanian languages.
