Position Description:

The Barrick North Mara Team is actively seeking a skilled Pump Fitter to join and contribute to our dynamic team.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to safe work practices, including attending compulsory safety courses and meetings, using required PPE, incident/accident reporting, and strict adherence to Safety, Occupational Health, and Environmental Policies.
  • Follow all maintenance procedures, conducting mechanical activities according to standards without causing further damage.
  • Ensure equipment isolation, adhere to working at height and confined space standards/procedures, and conduct pre-start checks/inspections.
  • Conduct mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance on Fixed Plant equipment to ensure safety and efficiency, achieving production and cost targets.
  • Troubleshoot, perform fault finding, and corrective maintenance to address unplanned equipment unavailability events.
  • Maximize equipment availability through effective maintenance practices.
  • Utilize work instructions to determine job requirements, including job sheets, quality and quantity of materials/resources, etc.
  • Perform PM inspections according to maintenance requirements and ensure preventive maintenance compliance.
  • Carry out Fixed Plant equipment upgrades/modifications as required.
  • Removal and replacement of pump components.
  • Provide accurate and timely feedback to the Supervisor on conditions that may affect equipment functionality.
  • Keep Supervisors and stakeholders informed of equipment availability status.
  • Identify mechanical equipment and resources, and select and inspect tools/equipment.
  • Follow up on outstanding maintenance/repairs.
  • Complete the shift handover process.
  • Actively participate in training activities to gain new skills and develop full potential.
  • Provide on-the-job training and coaching to less experienced personnel under the direction of the Supervisor.
  • Participate in poly pipe welding activities as required.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Trade qualified VETA, FTC, or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience and Competencies Needed:

  • Three years of experience in Pump Fitting.
  • Essential experience in open-cast or underground mining.
  • Valid Tanzanian driving license.
  • Fault-finding/troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of tools, equipment, and techniques used in mechanical activities.
  • Knowledge of pump operation and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of fluid mechanical principles.
  • Interpretation of mechanical specifications, including terms, codes, and symbols.
  • Interpretation of mechanical machine operating procedures.
  • Knowledge of measuring/calculating material requirements from job specifications.
