Chemonics International Inc., a U.S.-based international development consulting firm operating in over 100 countries, is looking for a dynamic and experienced individual to fill the role of Finance and Operations Director for the anticipated USAID-funded Malaria Vector Control Activity (MVCA) in Tanzania. This initiative aims to implement evidence-based vector control approaches to reduce malaria prevalence and move Tanzania closer to malaria elimination.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee overall project operations and finances, ensuring efficient financial control systems and operations processes.
- Support the achievement of project goals, contributing to project performance.
- Develop and implement key management systems for project planning, reporting, financial management, procurement, and personnel management.
- Supervise day-to-day field operations, including administration, logistics, procurement, budgeting, financial accounting, and IT.
- Ensure compliance with USAID regulations, Chemonics policies, and host country requirements.
- Manage program accounting, financial reporting, and bank accounts, providing financial analysis for project leadership and USAID.
- Handle human resource and personnel management, including recruitment, local staff leaves, benefits, care, professional development, and performance management.
- Analyze and streamline processes, provide ongoing training to project staff on administration and implementation, and oversee operational procurement for compliance.
Required Qualifications:
- University degree (bachelor’s or higher) in finance, business administration, accounting, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant professional experience with demonstrated experience on USAID or donor-funded contracts.
- Advanced Excel skills and ability to develop and manage complex budgets.
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and detail-oriented.
- Knowledge of Tanzania’s operating environment, including registration, taxes, and labor law.
- Commitment to ethical practices, transparency, and staff care.
- Strong interpersonal, representation, and oral and written communication skills.
- Fluency in English (Swahili is desirable).
