How Will You Impact AGL Zambia Ltd? As a Procurement Specialist, you will play a crucial role in assisting with research, development, and communication of purchasing policies and procedures. Under the supervision of the General Manager Investments & Business Development, your responsibilities will include:

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Policy and Procedure Development:
    • Assist in research, development, and communication of purchasing policies and procedures.
    • Provide technical guidance on purchasing policies and procedures within and outside the AGL network.
  2. Solicitation and Evaluation:
    • Determine solicitation methods for complex, formal, high-profile, and discretionary procurements.
    • Facilitate, coordinate, and participate in the evaluation of proposals and negotiations with vendors.
  3. Procurement Process Management:
    • Plan, administer, and execute the procurement process, including developing specifications/scope of work, coordinating with departments, finalizing solicitation documents, and facilitating the evaluation and selection process.
    • Review departmental requests and select the appropriate procurement method.
  4. Supplier Management:
    • Manage the new supplier qualification and onboarding process.
    • Manage RFx events and documentation.
    • Support suppliers with issue resolution across the Procure to Pay (P2P) process.
    • Analyze supplier performance data and metrics.
    • Create supplier scorecards and participate in business reviews to improve supplier performance.
  5. Strategic Sourcing and Vendor Selection:
    • Own and execute strategic sourcing and vendor selection.
    • Implement Request for Quotation (RFQ) process.
    • Issue purchase orders, monitor and manage purchase orders through their full lifecycle.
  6. General Procurement Responsibilities:
    • Provide support throughout the contracting process and management of contracts post-execution.
    • Assist with inventory management related to procurement activities.
    • Collaborate cross-functionally with teams to make purchasing decisions.
    • Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvement.

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree level in Chartered Institute in Procurement & Supply Chain (CIPS) or equivalent.
  • 3 – 5 years’ previous experience in a similar role (Private Sector experience is a must).
  • Membership in Zambia Institute of Purchasing & Supply (ZIPS) and Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply.
  • Knowledge and application of the principles of supply chain management.
  • Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge in ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Clear understanding of confidentiality and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent written English and the ability to communicate at all levels.
