Job Description | Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) presents an exciting opportunity for a Senior Category Manager to join the Group Procurement team. The successful incumbent will report directly to the Chief Procurement Officer, there will be two (2) direct reports to the role. The successful candidate will be role responsible for establishing strategic leadership and development of sourcing strategies in alignment with CEPG (Cross Enterprise Procurement Group), ensuring that all sourcing strategies are successfully executed and fully implemented for Raw Material categories. Coca-Cola Beverages Africa is the largest African Coca-Cola bottler, accounting for 40 percent of all Coca-Cola volumes on the continent. CCBA is a market leader in the NARTD (non-alcoholic ready to drink market) in Africa. CCBA has an extensive footprint in Africa, employing over 17 000 employees. |
Key Duties & Responsibilities | .Strategic Business and Procurement alignment Developing and implementing medium to long term sustainable category strategies and objectives and look for further synergies and drive harmonization within the CCBA Spend Tower. Developing action plans for innovative and challenging competitive advantage-based projects and ensuring alignment from and implementation by all internal and external stakeholders together with individual Category Managers Ensuring The Coca-Cola Company (TCCC) needs are considered and duly incorporated into commodity strategies where appropriate. To leading, managing and providing guidance and expertise on the implementation of the category strategies. Identifying and influencing all internal and external stakeholders and developing a collaborative network throughout all countries to allow the strategy deployment and sourcing execution of projects. Supporting all countries to deliver their business targets and opportunities. Assessing individual training needs and provide coaching to enhance Team capability Perform key sourcing initiatives Developing the CCBA Go-To-Market and negotiating strategies and related objectives including known supplier capacity, quality and service offerings and share with CEPG as part of the Global strategy development ensuring proper documentation protocol. Leading CCBA negotiation role with all internal and external executive stakeholders for Categories and to assume accountability and responsibility for sourcing decisions. Defining requirements and templates for analytics and market intelligence support that is required from the local in-country stakeholders in procurement, planning, manufacturing and logistics and logistics and supply chain functions. Keeping abreast of global trends, market developments, country specific legal, logistic and customs and excise conditions with regards to the category Negotiating, drafting and concluding binding Supply and Service Level Agreements, including governance of future escalation, that protect CCBA interests and mitigate supply risk. Supplier relationship management Leading all activities for end-to-end Supplier Relationship Management programs for all suppliers. These activities include adherence to contractual obligations, establishing and implementing key performance indicators, ensuring accurate measurement of supplier performance, analysis of consolidated internal stakeholder feedback on supplier performance, leading this cross functional review with internal stakeholders Ensuring that all suppliers meet the product quality requirements of the products and services supplied and to take necessary corrective action including potential re-allocation of supply should the current supplier be unable to perform their duties. Identifying and developing, with Country Procurement Managers, new commercially viable suppliers that would be able to drive business benefit and mitigate supply risk and to work with TCCC Technical teams to ensure approval of the supplier, their facility and product. Drive Procurement performance efficiency, capability and capacity optimization Tracking and managing agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPI) of the categories and communicate to CCBA Chief Procurement Officer and all appropriate internal and external stakeholders. Developing and leading any correction strategies to mitigate risk and poor performance identified by the KPI’s. Driving product and supplier standardization and volume aggregation for value creation while improving process controls. Developing CCBA benchmarks and scorecards for such categories and compare to global benchmarks for continuous improvement and transformation of the individual value chain. Procurement Finance Management and Administration Tracking global pricing and capacity trends, monitoring and evaluating currency impact and inflation in each country and pro-actively engage with and make a recommendation to each Country Procurement and Finance Manager as required to ensure actual costs incurred and in line with the approved budget. Advising appropriate stakeholders when it is opportune to employ hedging strategies if any, and obtain commitment to implement currency and commodity-specific hedge strategies over the short to medium term. |
Skills, Experience & Education | Minimum requirement: National Diploma or Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain / Engineering / Finance Added advantage: Master’s degree in Business Management/Engineering/Supply Chain/Finance. A recognized qualification in procurement would be considered an asset. Experience 8+ years of business experience in of which 5 years minimum is required in Strategic Purchasing within an FMCG environment Regional and international travel required In-depth knowledge of procurement, both strategic and operational as well as preferably working in an international environment will be a benefit. Extensive experience in commercial negotiations, excellent influencing and interpersonal as well as knowledge of the international trading environment is essential to success of this role.
