The Barrick Africa Middle East Team is looking for an Electronic Fuel Management System Technician (EFMS) to join our team. Responsibilities:
- Implement and enhance current fuel management systems at the North Mara Mine site.
- Inspect all equipment related to the Electronic Fuel Management System (EFMS).
- Provide proactive assistance and undergo training on the EFMS system.
- Ensure accurate recording of all data and perform cross-checks between mechanical and electronic systems.
- Reconcile daily fuel usage on the electronic system and report deviations to the Automation Fuel System Specialist.
- Submit maintenance reports on the EFMS system daily and record all necessary data changes.
- Communicate and ensure compliance with all fuel system procedures on a daily basis.
- Report any irregularities or faulty equipment to the Fuel and Lubricant Supervisor.
- Comply with instructions from the Fuel and Lubricant Supervisor and ensure timely calibration of meters and tanks.
- Responsible for fuel system reconciliation and Automation Fuel System technical duties.
- Adhere to SOPs and Trade Metrology Act regulations in repairs.
- Maintain sufficient stock of critical spares for the Lafone system.
- Collaborate closely with the maintenance team to ensure equipment availability for seamless operations.
- Conduct safety checks on all electronic equipment related to the Optimin Lafone System.
- Complete all necessary training before resolving issues on the EFMS system.
Qualification Requirements:
- Trade certificate from a recognized institution.
- Qualified Instrumentation technician/electrician.
- Strong mathematical competency.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Extensive on-the-job training.
- Understanding of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
- Mines Health & Safety Act Awareness.
Experience and Competencies Needed:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an Instrumentation Technician/Electrician in the mining industry.
- Experience in managing system upgrades and project costs.
- Ability to coach, mentor, and train refueling crew staff.
- Proficiency in system fault finding, electrical tracing, and project scopes.
- Knowledge and skill competencies in Electrical and Electronic systems.
- Ability to safely operate above normal scopes of working ethics.
- Must have a valid driving license and excellent communication skills in English.
- Motivated individual with the ability to work with minimum supervision.
- High professional conduct and ability to deal with a diverse client base.
