Job Overview

  • Position: Supply Chain Officer
  • Organization: Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)
  • Location: Liwale, Lindi
  • Main Purpose: Organizing and supervising daily supply chain activities and teams at the coordination or project level to ensure optimal mission operations.
  • Direct Reports: Logistics Team Leader (LTL)

Accountabilities

  1. Supervise and organize daily activities of the Supply Chain team, ensuring tasks are performed efficiently.
  2. Manage order, purchase, stock, and freight in the coordination or project level, ensuring effective implementation of daily supply chain activities.
  3. Monitor and ensure smooth supply administration, respecting implemented supply procedures and proposing adjustments when needed.
  4. Manage the supply database and ensure correct filing and archiving of supply documentation for data availability and coherence.
  5. Communicate with customers, provide updates on order status, and prioritize procurement and transport based on their needs.
  6. Collect field claims, analyze causes, and implement corrective actions.
  7. Supervise associated processes (recruitment, training, induction, briefing/debriefing, evaluation, potential detection, development, and communication) of staff under supervision.
  8. Inform the Logistics Team Leader of any major issues and provide required reporting for decision-making.
  9. Perform any other tasks within the scope of the role as directed by supervision and mission needs.

Minimum Educational Qualification:

  • Degree in Logistics/Supply Chain or related field/qualification.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in supply chain management.
  • Experience in the organization of supply administration and procedures.
  • Desirable: Understanding of MSF Field Logistics (general knowledge of MSF equipment and kits).
  • Working with an NGO is an added advantage.

Knowledge:

  • Proficiency in computer literacy (Word, Excel, Internet).

Languages:

  • Proficiency in both English and Kiswahili.
