BESIX Ballast Nedam (BBN) Limited, the CONTRACTOR for the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction of the Jetty and Load Out Facilities in Tanga Bay for the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) Project, invites applications for the position of Senior Welding & Painting Inspector.

Position Title: Senior Welding & Painting Inspector

Reports To: BBN Ltd. QAQC Manager

Employment Duration: Jan 2024 – June 2025

Job Type: Full Time

Responsibilities:

1. Establishment of Procedures:
   • Develop preliminary Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), WPS, and Inspection Test Plans tailored to project requirements.
2. Welder Qualification:
   • Qualify welders according to project requirements for both onshore and offshore facilities.
3. Materials Verification:
   • Verify inward raw materials, prefabricated materials, painting/coating materials, welding/painting/coating/field joint coating/wrapping materials.
4. Welding Implementation:
   • Implement welding parameters check as per approved procedure specifications on production welds.
   • Control welding inspectors and coordinate with Third-Party Inspection (TPI) and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) contractors.
5. Inspection and Testing:
   • Interpret radiography films per project specifications.
   • Prepare welding/painting/coating inspection reports and review reports.
   • Prepare hydro test final packages and witness hydrostatic/pneumatic testing.
6. Pre-commissioning and Documentation:
   • Involve in pre-commissioning activities and preparation of final dossiers for submission to clients/end-users.
7. Qualifications and Experience:
   • Bachelor’s degree with 15 years of experience in QA/QC Welding/Painting inspection, Material Inspection & NDT inspections.
   • Extensive knowledge of preparing/reviewing Procedure Qualification Records, Welding Procedure Specifications, Inspection and Test Plans.
   • Experience with offshore/onshore field joint FE coating Inspection, subsea riser clamps FBE painting Inspection, and offshore Jacket installation.
   • Well-versed in interpreting radiographs for offshore and onshore cross-country pipelines and piping.

Requirements:

• Graduated from an Engineering Faculty
• Fluent in spoken and written English
• CSWIP 3.2 Senior Welding Inspector certification
• AMPP/NACE or BGas CSWIP Painting Inspection Grade 3.2 or 2 certification
• ISO 9712 NDT Level II Certification
• API 510 in-service vessel inspection certification
• ISO 9001:2015 – Quality Management Systems Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor certification
