About Tearfund: Tearfund, a dynamic organization committed to positive change, is seeking a Lead Agriculture and Livelihoods Technical Advisor (ALTA) to join their team. The chosen candidate will play a crucial role in guiding and supporting agricultural development projects in Sub-Saharan Africa, particularly in the eastern Africa region.
Position: Lead Agriculture and Livelihoods Technical Advisor
Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of 5 ALTAs spread across sub-Saharan Africa.
- Provide primary technical support to Canadian Foodgrains Bank (CFGB) members and partners in the eastern Africa region.
- Allocate 15% of time to support Tearfund’s Africa food security programming.
- Guide capacity development for over 50 implementing NGO partners in sub-Saharan Africa through learning activities, workshops, conferences, and literature dissemination.
- Mentor ALTAs and utilize monitoring and evaluation data to assess project outcomes.
- Coordinate with national, regional, and global organizations promoting Agriculture and Livelihoods activities, including conservation agriculture.
Requirements:
- Extensive experience in agricultural development projects in Sub-Saharan Africa.
- Background in providing agricultural extension services and working with Ministry of Agriculture staff.
- Proficiency in program monitoring and evaluation, including project design and evaluation.
- Track record of working effectively with and through local partners.
- Ability to motivate and develop the skills of others.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
- Fluency (written and spoken) in English.
Location & Salary: This role will be based in one of Tearfund’s registered countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, and the salary will be dependent on the location. Candidates must have the right to live and work in Sub-Saharan Africa.
