Role Description:

Embark on a fulfilling journey with us as a full-time, on-site Maintenance & Facilities Manager situated on the captivating Zanzibar Island in Tanzania. In this crucial role, you will take charge of overseeing all maintenance and repair operations, ensuring that our facilities, equipment, and systems are maintained to the highest standards. Your primary focus will be on providing guests with an exceptional and secure environment during their stay. The role demands the ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting, coupled with excellent communication and management skills. Your diplomatic touch will be essential in supervising a diverse team of technicians, fundis, and landscaping staff.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, candidates should possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field
  • 6+ years of hands-on experience in building maintenance, facilities management, or construction
  • Proficiency in the use of hand and power tools, with knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • Proven experience in managing a team of maintenance technicians and fundis, demonstrating strong hands-on leadership and communication skills
  • Expertise in budgeting, project management, and collaboration with vendors and suppliers
  • Meticulous attention to detail, adept problem-solving skills, and flexibility to thrive in a dynamic resort environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills, enabling effective communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Willingness to work extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to achieve set goals
  • Conversational knowledge of Kiswahili is advantageous
  • Prior experience in the hospitality industry is a significant advantage
