Job Purpose/Mission:
The Head of Finance at ENGIE Energy Access holds a critical position responsible for creating forecasting models, assessing investment risks, and ensuring compliance with accounting regulations. This role involves overseeing financial strategy, policies, and procedures, as well as managing financial performance, risk, and supply chain logistics.
Responsibilities:
Financial Strategy, Policies, Procedures, and Internal Controls:
- Formulate financial strategic action plans for ENGIE Mobisol UK Ltd (Tanzania) and ensure implementation and compliance with company financial policies.
- Standardize controls, systems policies, and procedures, ensuring implementation across the country.
- Develop performance standards, ensuring the pursuit and achievement of strategic objectives.
- Contribute to the country’s supply chain strategy in alignment with global directions.
- Analyze monthly financial performance against established benchmarks.
- Oversee the disposal of Property, Plant, and Equipment, ensuring compliance with accounting requirements.
Financial Performance and Financial Risk Management:
- Ensure the business achieves or surpasses profitability targets.
- Manage cash flows, debt collection, and credit policy efficiently.
- Monitor key expenditure areas and profitability margins.
- Secure and negotiate financing facilities with financial institutions.
- Manage capital expenditure budget and ensure compliance with local laws and regulations.
- Prepare and present financial results to financial analysts and the board.
- Ensure completion of external audit aligns with legal requirements.
Supply and Logistics Management at EEA Tanzania:
- Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers, vendors, or freight forwarders.
- Monitor suppliers’ performance and assess their ability to meet quality and delivery requirements.
- Develop procedures or systems to evaluate and select suppliers.
- Maintain a knowledge database of supplier markets, capabilities, and key performance indicators.
- Develop and implement long-term supply agreements for key strategic items and services.
- Establish strategic relationships with suppliers and partners in clearing, forwarding, and distribution.
- Review and improve the supply chain planning process.
Statutory Reporting, Financial Support, and Advisory Services:
- Prepare financial budgets, management reports, and present them to the board for approval.
- Prepare monthly financial management results and present them to the Country Director and executive committee.
- Prepare LTT consolidated financial statements, working with external auditors.
- Direct involvement in strategic mapping for the entire organization as a member of the Leadership team.
- Ensure tight controls in the upkeep of organizational information and physical security.
- Recommend training needs for employees within the department.
- Perform quarterly performance appraisals for all direct reports within the department.
Planning:
- Contribute to short-term and long-term strategic and management thinking.
- Ensure compliance with local laws and regulations regarding Income and Corporate tax.
- Analyze monthly financial performance against established benchmarks.
Accountability:
- Make decisions on performance standards, finances, internal controls, cash resource allocation, expenditure, taxation, and treasury functions.
- Ensure optimum ways of managing taxation and content inclusion in the end-of-year financial report.
- Decide on the supply chain strategy for the business.
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience:
- At least 10 years in Finance, Corporate Finance, or a related discipline, with 6 years in a Senior Management position within the renewable energy industry.
- Experience representing a medium to leading commercial multinational entity to internal and external partners and authorities.
- Experience with networking, advocacy, and coordination.
Qualifications:
- Professional accounting qualifications such as CPA, CFA, CIMA, or ACCA, with NBAA registration.
- Minimum MBA or equivalent in Accountancy, Finance, Economics, Actuarial Science, or a related discipline.
- Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and International Accounting Standards (IAS).
- Proficient in spreadsheet and financial modeling, MS Office, and business modeling tools.
- Knowledge of Accounting Systems (Financial accounting software) and HYPERION.
- Strong analytical, conceptual, and diagnostic skills.
- Understanding of different business functions and their interaction toward achieving business objectives.
- High degree of professional judgment and discretion.
- Coaching and training skills.
- Strong planning and organizational ability.
- Excellent verbal communication skills with customer focus.
Language(s):
- English, Swahili
- French is a plus
Technology:
- Experience in technology required for the role.
