Exim Bank is hiring for the position of Assistant Relationship Manager – Bancassurance to be based in Zanzibar. The role reports to the Manager General Insurance and is part of the Retail department.

Purpose of Job: The Assistant Relationship Manager is responsible for participating in the development and implementation of sales and underwriting of insurance covers in line with the bancassurance team’s objectives. The role involves providing efficient and effective insurance services, ensuring timely handling of all client-related matters, and contributing to the achievement of business budget goals.

Key Role and Responsibilities:

  • Co-ordinate all Bancassurance activities in Zanzibar.
  • Handle retail and CIB portfolio with new and renewal business, focusing on Medical, General, and Life insurance.
  • Maintain, generate, and manage existing and new businesses by establishing rapport with potential clients.
  • Negotiate insurance terms with insurers, provide competitive quotes, and propose solutions.
  • Analyze and assess proposal forms and risk notes within acceptable underwriting standards.
  • Attend to direct customers, provide prompt attention and efficient service.
  • Provide guidance and training to bank staff and bancassurance champions on insurance matters in Zanzibar.
  • Perform periodic service visits to clients, handle claims follow-up, and update clients.
  • Monitor progress towards achieving targets and prepare weekly and monthly reports.
  • Participate in formulating and implementing marketing activities and promotions.
  • Ensure timely quotations, invoicing, dispatch, and tracking of documents.
  • Accountable for achieving annual income targets and timely collection of commissions from insurers.

Qualification and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in insurance, banking, risk management, law, actuarial science, finance, business administration, or related field from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ work experience in the Insurance Industry with a focus on Operations, Underwriting, and Claims.
  • Minimum requirement certificate in insurance/CoP.
  • Sworn Declaration of good character and solvency.
  • Strong passion and understanding of the insurance industry and its regulatory environment.
  • Demonstrated capacity to lead, coach, and supervise team members effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
