D-tree is a global digital health organization committed to ensuring access to high-quality primary healthcare in underserved areas. Collaborating with governments, D-tree designs, builds, and deploys digital tools for frontline health workers, enhancing their ability to provide evidence-based care. In partnership with the Zanzibar Ministry of Health since 2011, D-tree’s innovative digital health program, Jamii ni Afya, has demonstrated improved health outcomes, strengthened community health systems, and increased data-driven decision-making.

Who You Are: As a Program Officer, you will be an integral part of the Zanzibar team, responsible for program coordination and implementation. Your attention to detail, accountability in planning, and coordination of program activities will contribute to the success of the program. You possess experience in coordinating complex projects, working effectively in a team, and engaging with technical and government partners. Your strong communication skills, both oral and written, coupled with excellent teamwork, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities, make you an ideal candidate.

What You Will Do:

  1. Coordinate and support the design and development of digital system updates for Early Childhood Development and immunizations, applying a human-centered design approach.
  2. Assist in the preparation, logistics, and implementation of meetings and training sessions with government and stakeholders.
  3. Conduct field follow-up activities, supportive supervision, and troubleshooting to support digital system use and program implementation.
  4. Provide coordination and technical guidance for community health activities planned by cross-cutting community health partners in Zanzibar.
  5. Monitor program progress and review the Jamii ni Afya – DHIS2 dashboard to understand trends and health impacts, proposing strategies for improvement.
  6. Contribute to quarterly activity plans and budgets for cross-cutting program implementation.
  7. Lead the preparation of project reports and collaborate on technical and programmatic program reports.
  8. Maintain a working relationship with the project consortium team, attending program meetings, participating in discussions, and providing updates as needed.
  9. Generate content for external communications aligned with D-tree’s communications strategy in collaboration with D-tree’s Communications Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., public health, global development, clinical medicine) OR Advanced Diploma with at least 3 years’ experience in public health programs.
  • Experience in Public Health, Health Administration, Clinical Medicine, Health Sciences, Community Development, Social Work, and Digital Health is a plus.
  • Experience in Early Childhood Development and/or immunizations is an advantage.
  • Strong coordination, communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to use data for decision-making and good analytical skills.
  • Effective collaboration with a team, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to produce high-quality written work.
  • Proven computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Fluent in Swahili and good written and spoken English.
  • Tanzanian nationals are required.

Salary Range:

The annual salary range for this role is 26,000,000 TZS to 35,333,333 TZS, inclusive of all cash compensation. Salary scales are set based on an explicit compensation policy, considering market data and relevant experience for each role.
