Plan, organize, and evaluate the activities concerning nursing and the associated team, according to MSF values, policies, and protocols and universal health standards, in order to warrant the quality and continuity of health care and the development of the plan of action.
Title: NURSING TEAM SUPERVISOR

MAIN PURPOSE
Implementing and supervising nursing activities in collaboration with MOH staff in selected health facilities, ensuring the implementation of protocols, guidelines, and training plans for nursing staff.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Collaborate with MOH staff to ensure the implementation and use of protocols, guidelines, and algorithms of BEmONC and CEmONC in health centers and dispensaries.
- Improve sterilization techniques of medical equipment in health centers and dispensaries. Facilitate and follow waste segregation and disposal, participate in training with HP supervisor and MWAM.
- Develop a plan for training nursing staff based on an evaluation of competencies and needs, and carry it out according to the set plan.
- Meet with MWAM regularly to give updates on the status of medical activities supported by MSF in MOH facilities and establish objectives for the coming period.
- Assist in OPD patient triage, management of children under 5 years in OPD and IPD. Collect medical data from respective health facilities and submit it to the supervisor on time.
- Collaborate with the health promotion (HP) supervisor to elaborate a strategy for SRH and children under 5 years with a focus on these two activities.
- Supervise the proper distribution of drugs and the use of materials, keeping track of consumption patterns and supply orders, and monitoring inventories, together with the MWAM, MOH matrons/Patrons, and other health facility in charge.
- Training the matron/Patron and health facility in charge to ensure having minimum levels of stock to carry out the activities of the project and a rational and appropriate use of material resources.
- In collaboration with the pharmacy supervisor, follow up on the availability of medical supplies to respective health facilities and facilitate MSF gap filling.
- In collaboration with MoH interlocutors, identify referral challenges and help define referral criteria, policies, and pathways to support and improve the system.
Main responsibilities:
- Carry out the functions and tasks associated with nursing, including performing as a nurse or anaesthetist whenever required or needed, to optimize resources and contribute knowledge and experience.
- Supervise, promote, implement, and follow up on universal hygiene standards/precautions, bio-hazard prevention, infection prevention and control measures, and ensure other protocols and procedures in the medical premises are maintained, and high standards of hygiene are followed by the team.
- Organize and coordinate the activities of the nursing team, evaluate their performance, and ensure the needs for training are met to maintain high standards of quality.
- Carry out and/or supervise the (decentralized) pharmacy and medical equipment management, ensuring efficient and effective material supply.
- Ensure that all staff using medical devices are qualified and trained. Ensure that cleaning and minor maintenance tasks are performed according to the protocols. Report any malfunction to the project biomedical service.
- Carry out and/or coordinate administrative, information, and data collection tasks, and elaborate regular reporting to have updated and reliable information about the day-to-day activity in the project.
Minimum Educational Qualification:
- Specialty (Registered Nurse midwifery,) diploma essential
Experience:
- Essential 2 years of previous experience.
- Desirable: Previous experience working with NGOs.
Knowledge:
- Essential computer literacy (word, excel, internet)
Languages:
- Knowledge of both English and Kiswahili is mandatory.
