Exciting Opportunity: Managing Director

About the Job:

Our client, an upcoming technology company in Tanzania, is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic candidate for the role of Managing Director. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in establishing, scaling, and leading the company’s business. The primary focus will be on driving sales revenue, profitability, and operational excellence, with a strategic vision for the future monetization of the company.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Define and lead the implementation of the company strategy and manage associated OPEX and CAPEX within budget.
  • Take end-to-end accountability for defining the commercial and business plan, as well as the Profit and Loss (P&L).
  • Lead the formation of a master service agreement supported by a business case.
  • Navigate regulatory requirements and ensure adherence to all applicable guidelines and in-house policies.
  • Lead negotiation and management of wholesale contracts.
  • Ensure that all strategic partners meet organizational requirements for successful customer delivery.
  • Build relationships and manage partnerships with telecom operators and internet service providers.
  • Establish an effective leadership team to drive the organization toward strategic goals and objectives.
  • Coordinate finance, technical, legal, sales, regulatory, and HR functions for the formation and running of the company.
  • Deliver operational efficiencies through process simplification and harmonization.
  • Lead digitalization efforts and manage associated business transformation aspects.
  • Diagnose and resolve challenges associated with future technology evolutions to preserve profitability.

Academic/Professional Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. MBA or similar management qualification advantageous.
  • 10 years of relevant experience at senior management level in a telco or infrastructure-related industry.
  • Well-developed knowledge of the telecommunications market with experience in infrastructure businesses and B2B customer management.
  • Highly skilled in managing critical stakeholders, including regulatory authorities.
  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrable experience in successfully building and managing teams through change.
