Job Overview:

Aga Khan Foundation is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Junior Researcher. The role is based in Dar es Salaam.

Responsibilities:

The Junior Researcher will be responsible for administratively supporting the study “Assessing the scale-up of a technology-supported, government-led teacher professional development programme in Tanzania: Considering issues of equity, agency, and adaptation.” The study, known as Mafunzo Endelevu kwa Walimu Kazini (MEWAKA), aims to investigate teachers’ equitable participation, effective implementation, and schools’ and individuals’ agency to adapt the programme to suit their contexts.

Specific Responsibilities:

  1. Schedule and organize significant project workshops.
  2. Manage operational communication with AKU, TIE, and EdTech Hub, maintaining contact lists.
  3. Plan, attend, and take detailed minutes in ETI PM and finance meetings.
  4. Make travel arrangements, such as booking flights, cars, and hotel and restaurant reservations.
  5. Provide operational project management and administrative support, including contracting, finance, data management, reporting, and logistics.
  6. Assist in the preparation of regularly scheduled reports.
  7. Liaise with executive and senior administrative assistants to handle requests and queries from senior managers.

Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Business Administration, or any other relevant training.
  • Two years of experience in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel, spreadsheet, database, and MS PowerPoint).
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prepare reports and summaries of a technical nature.
  • Experience managing budgets and expenses.
  • Comfortable handling confidential information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask.
  • Interpersonal skills, professional and courteous demeanor, excellent office and phone etiquette, and the ability to diffuse tense situations.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and navigate multiple deadlines.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
  • Ability to work well independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Excellent team player, able to think and adapt proactively to changing situations.
  • An unwavering commitment to the protection and safeguarding of others, particularly those in vulnerable situations.
