JOB VACANCY – INFECTION AND PREVENTION CONTROL (IPC) SUPERVISOR – FULL TIME – 100%

Title: INFECTION AND PREVENTION CONTROL (IPC) SUPERVISOR
Direct Reports: PROJECT MEDICAL REFERENT (PMR)
Location: LIWALE, LINDI

MAIN PURPOSE

Implementing and supervising an infection control program in a project or health facility, according to MSF protocols, safety, and IPC measures, to ensure the quality of care and safety of patients, caretakers, and staff.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Collaborate with MOH staff to ensure the implementation of IPC protocols and guidelines in health centers and dispensaries.
  2. Improve sterilization techniques of medical equipment in health centers and dispensaries.
  3. Develop a training plan for MOH staff based on competency evaluation and needs, and carry it out according to the set plan.
  4. Meet with the project medical referent regularly to provide updates on medical activities supported by MSF and establish objectives for the coming period.
  5. Submit monthly reports of IPC activities to the PMR.
  6. Plan regular visits to health centers and dispensaries in consultation with MWAM.
  7. Supervise the proper distribution of IPC materials, monitor consumption patterns, supply orders, and maintain inventories.
  8. Train matrons/patrons and health facility in charge to ensure minimum stock levels and rational use of material resources.

Main responsibilities:

  1. Maintain and support the day-to-day implementation of standard precautions in health structures, including sterilization, laundry, and kitchen.
  2. Provide technical supervision, training, and support to staff on IPC-related issues.
  3. Implement and monitor adherence to additional precautions for air, droplet, and contact transmissible diseases.
  4. Support the correct ‘clean and dirty flows’ inside the health facility.
  5. Ensure compliance with aseptic care techniques and the correct use of antiseptics, disinfectants, and detergents through training and audits.
  6. Check the consumption and quality of IPC materials and equipment.
  7. Participate actively in the Infection Control Committee, supporting the development and follow-up of the Infection Control Action Plan.
  8. Supervise the team under your responsibility and participate in associated HR processes.
  9. Report any irregularities to PMR and produce reports with information and recommendations for the monthly medical reporting.

Minimum Educational Qualification:

  • Essential: Nurse or midwife (or equivalent) diploma
  • Preferable with IPC background experience or diploma

Experience:

  • Preferable: Previous working experience with MSF or other NGOs
  • Experience in OT, Intensive Care Unit is an additional asset.

Knowledge:

  • Essential computer literacy (word, excel, internet)

Languages:

  • Knowledge of both English and Kiswahili is mandatory.
