Rhodes Park Schools Group is currently seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to fill the position of Teacher of English Language and Literature in English for the Secondary Section. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the holistic development of students while fostering a love for English Language and Literature.

Job Purpose: The primary responsibility of the role is to prepare and deliver engaging English Language and Literature in English lessons to secondary school students. The position requires the development and stimulation of learners’ grammatical competences.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Take responsibility for an English Language and Literature in English class, supporting, nurturing, and taking a genuine interest in the holistic development of all students.
  2. Collaborate closely with the Head Teacher and colleagues to ensure effective teaching and learning.
  3. Develop and enrich professional skills and knowledge through attendance at seminars, conferences, and CPD sessions.
  4. Enforce regulations regarding learner conduct and discipline.
  5. Plan and implement a relevant, challenging, and rigorous curriculum.
  6. Plan and deliver lessons, ensuring appropriate differentiation.
  7. Contribute to collaborative learning at all levels of school life.
  8. Create inquiry-based classrooms that develop critical thinking skills within an environment based on trust, respect, and fairness.
  9. Select relevant resources and leverage digital tools to support and enhance learning.
  10. Develop appropriate assessment tasks, providing timely and effective feedback to enhance pupils’ learning.
  11. Communicate effectively with pupils, parents, and colleagues in a professional manner.
  12. Provide appropriate pastoral support as and when necessary.
  13. Play an active role in the school’s extra-curricular programmes.
  14. Perform any other assigned duties.

Knowledge, Experience & Personal Competencies:

  • Full Grade 12 certificate with 5 Credits or better.
  • A Secondary Teacher’s diploma in English Language and Literature in English with 2 years’ working experience in a reputable school. A Bachelor’s Degree with an English Major will be an added advantage.
  • Qualified teacher registered and licensed with The Teaching Council of Zambia (TCZ).
  • Familiarity with the school pathways of Examinations Councils of Zambia (ECZ) and Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE).
  • Creative and enthusiastic approach both in and out of the classroom.
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Good administrative and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • High levels of integrity and professionalism.
  • Flexibility and transparency.
  • Computer literate.
