Job Overview:

Evolve People Solutions is seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Assistant Farm Manager. The role is located in Siha, Kilimanjaro, and the successful candidate will play a key role in managing both people and maintenance activities in a production setting within the poultry sector.

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the Farm Manager to ensure all aspects of running the farm are met, from Chick Placement Preparation to turnaround.
• Maintain safe working practices for all staff and contractors on-site.
• Manage contractors and maintenance on-site.
• Ensure the welfare of livestock, including feeding, ordering, ventilation management, vaccination, record-keeping, etc.
• Ensure farm production systems are up to date and provide frequent reporting of activities.
• Ensure all farm machinery and vehicles, such as tractors and quad bikes, are in operating condition.
• Take responsibility for maintaining a clean and organized farm environment.
• Ensure adherence to best practices and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in terms of Chick production and biosecurity.

People Management:

• Align staff with the company’s daily, weekly, monthly, and annual objectives.
• Manage workers through one-on-one and team meetings on performance relative to set objectives.
• Supervise and motivate a team of workers.
• Review worker performance and identify training needs.
• Conduct daily walkabouts to identify areas for improvement.
• Conduct quarterly performance reviews using an evidence-based report back process.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Health, Veterinary Medicine, Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience in poultry is an added advantage.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in maintenance, people management, and poultry (bonus).
• Process-oriented.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Great organizational skills and time management.
• Strong IT skills (Computer literacy).
• Must be willing to reside in Siha, Kilimanjaro.
