About the job

This function acts as the analytical engine of the group with respect to business performance of the Downstream companies. The individual will serve as the Subject Matter Expert and fully understand the sub-Saharan Downstream market and key trends that can impact the business.

In this highly visible role, the performance analyst interacts on behalf of the group with senior management of the Downstream entities. The individual will lead information gathering and analysis of industry, operational and financial data while providing consulting and strategic support to the entity’s management.


What you’ll do:

  • Drive monthly performance reviews: Provides critical appraisal of production and downtime performance and takes the lead for programs that will improve operational efficiency. Perform analysis encompassing operational reporting, performance dialogues and production planning.
  • Prepare, produce, and validate, ad-hoc reports specifically to measure, monitor, and alert the business regarding unforeseen shifts in the performance
  • Performance Monitoring: Responsible for Board and Exec performance reporting, including ownership of top-level metrics. Monitor performance indicators, highlighting trends and analysing causes of unexpected variance
  • Cost Management: Responsible for framework (including integration with procurement), embedding culture and accountability, continuous drive for cost optimization and associated reporting (includes Opex reporting, tracking, trends etc.)
  • Planning: Responsible for planning processes including timetables, inputs (key physicals, market environment) outputs (presentations) and importantly upfront business planning to feed into financial plans.
  • Develop financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives
  • Analyse complex financial information and reports to provide accurate and timely recommendations to management for decision making purposes
  • Supporting Senior Management Team and Departments heads with in-depth analysis

Requirements

  • Must be living in Tanzania.
  • Bachelor's Degree in any business-related field
  • Professional Qualifications such as, ICAN, ACCA, CIMA (preferred as an advantage) MBA (preferred as an advantage)
  • 5+ years of work experience within the oil and gas industry; 3+ years of experience in Downstream Oil and Gas
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, Business Intelligence & Reporting and PowerPoint skills.
  • Strong knowledge of sub-Saharan Downstream market.
  • Possess analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Operations Accounting and Support. Understanding cost accounting and variance analysis, process and costing, activity-based costing techniques, project accounting, inventory control, value chain analysis, and statistical process controls
  • Business Planning and Performance Reporting. Understanding production and sales forecasting, revenue recognition and accounting, business plan budgeting, balance sheet forecasting, cash flow analysis and forecasting, capital budgeting, and financial statement analysis
  • Strategic thinker – can devise and execute effective business strategies
  • Collaborating and influencing. Persuading other people to accept a point of view, adopt a specific agenda, or take a course of action through building consensus and cooperation across various stakeholders.
