Job Description
A forerunner AgriTech company that designs and delivers innovative agricultural insurance and digital products to help smallholder farmers endure climate risks, improve their farming practices, and bolster their incomes over time is looking for driven and determined Commercial Manager for Tanzania.
With a reach of over 3.4 million farmers using their products and services across 11 countries in Africa and Asia, they pride themselves in being experts in insurance product design and delivery; farmer sensitization and training; digital extension services and project monitoring and evaluation.
This role will work closely with the Commercial Director to drive the development and delivery of the global partnership strategy and engagement with key intermediaries across domestic and international markets. The role requires account management experience, highly developed organisational skills, ability to take initiative and promote the company’s growth strategy amongst key network partners, consultants, and influencers.
Requirements
What you get to do:
• Think strategically about which accounts to target and come up with creative solutions to get customers to engage. You are expected to qualify opportunities, know which deals to work on, and which ones to pass on.
• Manage and nurture existing client relationships across a wide range of stakeholders including commodity associations, farmers’ aggregators, insurers, government and private companies.
• Research, prepare and execute a sales plan focused on delivering new and recurring revenues through partnerships with agro-input companies and the public sector.
• Generate new sales by creating new opportunities and nurture leads via leveraging existing relationships and building new relationships across industries from scratch.
• Be an outstanding external spokesperson for the company, its values and products. You will have the authority to prepare as well as negotiate commercial proposals.
• Progress prospects through a defined sales process to eventual contracting and implementation. Manage the handover of new customers to the operations team for the implementation of the solution
• Provide market feedback to product development, technology and operations teams based on customer feedback
• Analyse data and use it to make key strategic decisions for the business.
What it takes to succeed:
• At least 5 years’ experience in strong demonstrable in sales to development agencies, governments and/or financial institutions in West and Francophone Africa;
• Sales and or consulting in the area of agriculture: seed/fertilizer/agrochemical industry or related is a significant advantage.
• Experience and knowledge in the insurance industry will place you at an advantage.
• The knowledge and understanding of dealing with C-suite executives with excellent communication and presentation skills, integrity and impeccable professionalism;
• Experience in working with Development Agencies and/or Government officials at all levels and navigating government structures.
• Comfortable working against a sales quota target.
• Use data and KPIs to make management decisions.
• Working with Google Drive applications such as Google Sheets, Google Docs etc
