Position Description:

Barrick Gold Corporation is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Underground Production Superintendent to join our Africa Middle East Team. Responsibilities:

• Lead and direct mining operations contractors to adhere to mining strategies, budgets, plans, and safety standards.
• Develop systems to ensure that mining contractors operate safely and efficiently, maximizing profit for the organization.
• Monitor systems to swiftly correct unfavorable cost and physical variances.
• Implement employee performance management processes to ensure optimum performance and take appropriate action to remedy any substandard performance or behavior.
• Provide leadership, training, and support to ensure compliance with safety standards and the development of employee skills.
• Plan work schedules to ensure efficient and safe operations, conducting mine inspections to determine safety hazards and potential improvements.
• Review mining plans to ensure regulatory compliance and maintain records of daily mining activities.
• Lead daily communication with technical services and maintenance teams to meet production targets.
• Assist in the development of strategic life-of-mine plans and medium- and short-term operations plans.

Qualification Requirements:

• BS in Mining Engineering, technical degree, or equivalent experience.
• Mine Overseers Certificate of Competency or equivalent (added advantage).

Experience and Competencies Needed:

• Demonstrated commitment to health and safety issues in the mining industry.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in Underground Mining production, including leadership roles.
• Understanding of mining equipment, geology, and mine safety procedures.
• Ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks, and react well to changing conditions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Up-to-date knowledge of underground mining technology and heavy production equipment.
