Position: Legal Officer II (Contract basis – 2 years)

Job Overview:
Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) is seeking applications from suitably qualified Tanzanians to fill the position of Legal Officer II on a contract basis. The Legal Officer II will be responsible for handling legal documents, correspondences, and routine legal matters for the university.

Entry Qualifications:

  • Holder of Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B) from a recognized University or College.
  • Completion of a one (1) year internship or attendance at the Law School of Tanzania.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Handle documents and correspondences of assigned cases.
  • Deal with all legal routine correspondences addressed to the University.
  • Assist in drafting prescribed legal documents and forms.
  • Liaise with the head of Legal Unit regarding legal matters.
  • Follow up on documents and proceedings in courts.
  • Offer Legal Opinions to the Head of Unit in all legal matters.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Salary Scale: PGSS 7

GENERAL CONDITIONS FOR THE POST:

  • Applicants must be Citizens of Tanzania not more than 45 Years of Age.
  • Attach an up-to-date Curriculum Vitae (CV) including contact details.
  • Title of the position applied for must be written in the subject of the application letter and marked on the envelope.
  • Attach relevant copies of certificates, transcripts, and other supporting documents.
  • Provide three reputable referees with their reliable contacts.
  • Certificates from foreign countries should be verified by Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU), National Accreditation Council for Technical Education (NACTE), or National Examination Council of Tanzania (NECTA).
  • Consideration should be given to the recognition and registration of Colleges/Universities by Government Authorities.
  • Women are highly encouraged to apply.
  • Only shortlisted candidates will be informed about the date of the interview.
  • Applicants with special needs/disability should indicate.
  • Retired individuals from the public service should not apply.
  • Presentation of forged certificates and other information will lead to legal action.
