The Trade Union Congress of Tanzania (TUCTA), registered under No. FED 01, stands as the sole registered Trade Union Federation in Tanzania. Established in April 2001 and officially registered in May 2001 under the Trade Union Act of 1998, it later updated its registration under the Employment and Labour Relations Act 2004. TUCTA proudly serves as the national umbrella organization for thirteen sectoral-based trade unions, boasting a total membership of approximately 650,000 as of June 2016. Its primary mandate is to coordinate and liaise with the trade union movement across the country.

TUCTA is committed to championing the interests of workers through various means, including the promotion of social dialogue, advocacy for decent work, and harmonizing labor relations at all levels. The organization also places a strong emphasis on building and strengthening organizational capacities to increase and maintain its membership base.
