Position Overview:

The National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR) in Tanzania is advertising a position for a Research Officer Grade II – Medical Researcher. This role is pivotal in conducting health research, contributing to institutional sustainability, and disseminating findings to enhance human and social well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in developing sound and fundable research proposals to attract donor funding.
  2. Ensure timely submission of study proposals to relevant institutional review boards for approval.
  3. Conduct approved health research, including data collection, analysis, and report writing.
  4. Disseminate research findings through various channels, including peer-reviewed journals and scientific conferences.
  5. Participate in local and international scientific forums for the exchange and sharing of health research information.
  6. Identify opportunities for consultancies, respond to and implement awarded contracts to contribute to institutional sustainability.
  7. Engage in the commercialization of institutional research products.
  8. Assist in registrations and monitoring of approved health research implementation in Tanzania.
  9. Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Holder of a Master’s Degree in Medicine and a Doctor of Medicine from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of an Upper Second Class or an overall minimum of Grade B for unclassified Degrees.
