Position Overview:
The National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR) in Tanzania is advertising a position for a Research Officer Grade II – Medical Researcher. This role is pivotal in conducting health research, contributing to institutional sustainability, and disseminating findings to enhance human and social well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing sound and fundable research proposals to attract donor funding.
- Ensure timely submission of study proposals to relevant institutional review boards for approval.
- Conduct approved health research, including data collection, analysis, and report writing.
- Disseminate research findings through various channels, including peer-reviewed journals and scientific conferences.
- Participate in local and international scientific forums for the exchange and sharing of health research information.
- Identify opportunities for consultancies, respond to and implement awarded contracts to contribute to institutional sustainability.
- Engage in the commercialization of institutional research products.
- Assist in registrations and monitoring of approved health research implementation in Tanzania.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Holder of a Master’s Degree in Medicine and a Doctor of Medicine from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of an Upper Second Class or an overall minimum of Grade B for unclassified Degrees.
