Job Opportunity: Relationship Manager; SME – Tourism

Position: Relationship Manager; SME – Tourism (1 Position)

Job Location: Northern Zone, Arusha Business Center

Job Purpose: Responsible for growing both Liabilities (Deposits) and Assets from Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the Tourism sector. Advising the Business Banking department on business strategy to build and grow the Tourism portfolio, assisting the Business center RMs/Relationship Officers/Branch Managers in recruiting business customers to ensure SME business growth for the Tourism portfolio.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Actively sell Tourism deposits, lending, and cross-selling of other bank products (Forex, Fund Transfer, Internet Banking, etc.).
  2. Explore business opportunities to grow the tourism deposit book and monitor the performance of the existing portfolio.
  3. Appraise Tourism credit applications submitted by Business Centers and branches, providing recommendations for decision-making.
  4. Drive tourism portfolio activities through networking and promoting awareness of this segment with SME Business centers and Branch Managers.
  5. Build the capacity of the Relationship Managers/Officers through ongoing mentoring and support to ensure quality credit applications and business growth for Tourism.
  6. Lead tourism business development through an effective call program to both existing and prospects for different tourism companies.
  7. Create awareness of tourism products within and outside business units, training branch RO’s, and working closely with other respective departments.
  8. Contribute to the development/review of credit policy for the bank to ensure alignment with tourism best practices and statutory requirements.
  9. Review top-tier Tourism SMEs customers, conduct market intelligence, workshops/focus group reports, and review product design and performance for potential enhancements or changes.
  10. Prepare budgets and projections for tourism assets and deposit products, including the list of existing, prospective, and potential customers to benefit from loans and deposit products.
  11. Ensure customer satisfaction for SME Tourism is achieved by providing accurate advice for selling in line with customers’ expectations.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • In-depth understanding of key features under the tourism segment.
  • Strong credit analysis skills.
  • Good customer relationship and a sound understanding of the bank’s loan products, policies, and procedures.
  • Conversant with standard computer applications (Excel, Word, and Access).
  • Good communication skills with high proficiency in English and Kiswahili.
  • Good business management, leadership, coaching, and team-building skills.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Banking, Procurement, or related fields of study.
  • A Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ banking experience, including 3 years in handling a tourism portfolio.
