BBC Media Action, the BBC’s international development organization, is seeking a passionate individual for the position of Production Coordinator in Tanzania. Overall Purpose of Job: The Production Coordinator serves as the link between the production team and the project, administration, and finance teams. The role involves delivering logistical support to production activities for radio and digital content across BBC Media Action’s projects in Tanzania. The coordinator manages all logistics, including travel bookings, risk assessments, and venue identification. This role also supports editing and post-production activities, ensuring effective management of production team resources.
Main Duties and Accountabilities:
- Provide logistical support in all aspects of production, ensuring alignment with project objectives and BBC Media Action’s expectations.
- Coordinate with production teams to develop budgets and plans for recording radio shows, managing production events, identifying and booking venues, and recruiting contributors.
- Manage daily production schedules, send weekly and monthly schedules, and communicate any changes.
- Manage freelancers database, keeping records of commissioned stories, payments, and related documents.
- Provide access to production resources and planning tools for other departments to support effective work with partner radio stations.
- Coordinate with the partnerships manager for effective collaboration between the production and capacity-strengthening departments.
- Plan production trips and activities in collaboration with senior producers.
- Upload programs for rebroadcasting partners and other online platforms weekly.
- Manage production paperwork such as consent forms, compliance forms, and meeting minutes.
- Coordinate departmental meetings and ensure effective attendance.
- Stay informed about trends, events, and opportunities in the wider media sector and share relevant information with the team.
- Ensure production operations comply with government rules and regulations.
- Coordinate studio bookings and recording schedules for producers.
- Support the Head of Production in delivering all broadcast outputs, ensuring editorial integrity, quality, and timeliness.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
- University degree in administration, social science, or a related field.
- At least three years of experience in managing logistics, assets, and administrative functions.
- Excellent time management skills, ability to multi-task, and prioritize work.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Kiswahili (verbal and written).
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to establish effective working relationships.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Budget management and project management experience.
- Initiative-taking attitude and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail with the ability to keep sight of the broader picture.
