Position Overview:

The People Operations Officer will play a crucial role in administering hiring, retention, staff development, termination, personnel records, legal compliance, compensation, benefits, and providing day-to-day administrative and logistical support to the People Operations department and country staff. Reporting to the Manager, People Operations, this position holds key responsibilities in ensuring the smooth functioning of HR processes.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide general HR administrative support to the Manager, People Operations.
  • Assist in Personnel Annual Planning & Budgeting.
  • Update employee data into the Workday system and ensure monthly data quality checks.
  • Manage employment documentation, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
  • Provide data and prepare management information reports.
  • Consolidate monthly payroll inputs and ensure proper filing and document management.
  • Contribute to annual HR initiatives such as goal setting, performance management, and staff satisfaction surveys.
  • Support staff in understanding Room to Read People Operations policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate interviews, prepare training packs, and facilitate HR workshops/trainings.
  • Collaborate on DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) initiatives.
  • Address People Operations related issues in a timely manner.
  • Oversee the management and general administration of employee leave processes.
  • Facilitate staff separation as per internal policies and procedures, including exit interviews.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, industrial relations/psychology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience in HR Operations.
  • Experience in the NGO environment is advantageous.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to multi-task and well-organized.
  • Understanding of relevant labor legislations.
