Job Overview Alistair Group, based in Dar es Salaam, is currently seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the position of Clearing & Forwarding Declaration Officer. As a key member of the Clearing & Forwarding team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient handling of logistics solutions.

Position: Clearing & Forwarding Declaration Officer (Tanzania)

Reporting to: Head of Clearing & Forwarding

Hours: Monday to Friday, plus alternate Saturdays

Key Responsibilities and Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Diploma/Degree in Clearing and Forwarding or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Clearing & Forwarding for Local Imports, border clearing, and transit goods.
  • Comprehensive HS code knowledge and high accuracy in identifying and using the correct codes.
  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Flexibility in work habits and schedules, with a readiness to work extended hours when required.
  • Knowledge of government procedures and customs laws for air, sea, and road freight cargo.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Track shipments, update the database on arrival information, and ensure correct shipping documentation is in place.
  • Undertake all declaration procedures for imports and exports, including the application of IDFs.
  • Advise management on the best course of action to overcome technicalities in declaration or clearing operations.
  • Manage bonds and cancellation procedures.
  • Facilitate correspondence between statutory bodies and other parties.
  • Obtain customs release for exports and truck border consignment.
  • Ensure correct application of Tanzania Revenue Authority Tariffs.
  • Maintain a working relationship with the customs office.
  • Perform any other relevant duties assigned by the supervisor within the scope of the position.
