Summary
As the Batteries Product Manager at GSM, you will take the helm of the Batteries Sales Team, driving maximum sales profitability, growth, and market penetration. Reporting directly to GSM Spare Parts company, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the company’s product offerings and providing technical support to customers.
Responsibilities
Strategy
- Formulate strategic plans aligned with company targets.
- Develop and execute sales action plans across key accounts, distributors, resellers, export, and retail networks.
- Stay abreast of consumer needs, market trends, and competitor activities.
- Analyze country market trends, identifying innovative growth opportunities.
- Explore new product prospects, tire types, and service improvements.
Sales/Business Development
- Forecast annual, quarterly, and monthly sales goals.
- Develop sales to customers, including battery dealers, networks, and fleets.
- Manage prospective clients to build a sustainable base for growth.
- Achieve all budget targets.
Management
- Take overall commercial responsibility for the batteries business.
- Manage, train, and coach the sales team, setting goals and monitoring performance.
- Ensure regular and transparent reporting.
Operations
- Prepare and review annual budgets for batteries.
- Collaborate with the Line of Business (LOB) to discuss product strategy and technical support.
- Interact with the operations department to guarantee maximum service level to customers.
- Liaise closely with the procurement department for stock required to meet customer demand.
Marketing
- Work with the marketing team to prepare marketing budgets aligned with business objectives.
- Execute promotion and marketing campaigns supporting business growth and brand awareness.
- Monitor customer satisfaction and promptly address any issues that may compromise product and service quality.
Other Responsibilities
- Implement the company’s strategy and manage the department.
- Promote excellence, good governance, and HSSEQ principles.
- Consider the company’s reputation and uphold the Code of Conduct.
- Take personal responsibility for results and commitment to team development.
Education & Qualifications
- Degree in Business, Mechanical Engineering, or related subject.
- Minimum 5 years’ working experience in similar roles or industry.
- Computer Literacy (Ms Office): Excel, Word, Power Point.
- Detailed understanding of batteries, market, and logistics.
- Knowledge of tire application, batteries maintenance, and exposure to sales and marketing procedures.
- Fluent in Swahili and English.
- Negotiation and presentation skills.
- Leadership personality and a high level of self-drive.
- Detailed understanding of planning and budget processes.
- Excellent analytical skills and comprehension to interpret financial data and economic trends.
- Strong written and interpersonal skills with excellent presentation abilities.
- Effective communication and reporting skills.
- Attention to detail, integrity, rigor, and respect for governance principles.
- Autonomy, responsibility, risk awareness, and a focus on efficiency and performance.
