Job Opportunity: Accountant Vacancy at WODSTA – January 2024
Seize the opportunity to become a part of WODSTA’s dynamic team by applying for the position of Accountant. This role is crucial in ensuring the financial health of the organization and contributing to the mission of empowering women through effective financial management.
Specific Tasks:
- Accurate and Timely Payments: Ensure all payments are accurately supported, approved, and coded, paid promptly, with clear explanations for payment delays.
- Payroll and Journal Preparation: Properly prepare monthly payroll journals and ensure meticulous filing.
- Backup Accounts Assistant: Serve as a backup for capturing transactions in the approved financial management system in the absence of the accounts assistant.
- Financial Reports: Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports with high-quality standards.
- Bank Reconciliations: Ensure monthly bank reconciliations for all WODSTA accounts, consistent with financial policies and procedures.
- Donor Commitment: Maintain donor commitment tables and ensure timely submission of donor reports.
- Documentation and Filing: Ensure proper documentation and filing of financial documents, both physical and electronic, for easy retrieval.
- Budget Contribution: Contribute to developing realistic budgets aligned with the organizational plan.
- Financial Statements: Prepare semi-annual and annual financial statements according to accounting principles.
General Tasks:
- Implementation of Responsibilities: Successfully implement all assigned activities in work plans and budgets, consistent with WODSTA policies.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with WODSTA staff, support fundraising initiatives, and communicate effectively within the organization.
- Adherence to Values: Comply with established WODSTA values, policies, regulations, guidelines, and procedures.
- Additional Tasks: Undertake any other lawful tasks as directed by the supervisor or Executive Director.
Key Qualifications:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA-T) certificate or equivalent preferred.
- Two to three years of relevant work experience.
- Excellent administrative, planning, and budgeting skills.
- Proficiency in computerized accounting and other computer application packages.
- Impeccable reputation and integrity.
- Ability to meet deadlines and keen attention to details.
- Experience in NGO accounts/financial management.
- Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication in English and Kiswahili.
- Skills and experience in fundraising are an added advantage.
