About Us:

Zanziblue Waves is an upscale resort set to open in Zanzibar between June and September 2024. Designed to provide an authentic, sustainable hospitality experience, the resort boasts 40 individual villas, accommodating up to 100 guests. With two restaurants, a spa, a large fitness facility, an expansive pool, and lush gardens, the resort promises a harmonious connection with the stunning natural surroundings. Seeking a dynamic General Manager for the critical pre-opening period, the owners bring international corporate backgrounds, having successfully established the highly-rated Zanziblue resort (www.zanziblue.com).

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operations:

• Lead the establishment of teams, processes, and systems for a smooth resort opening.
• Oversee operations in all areas including Rooms, F&B, Spa, Activities, Security, and Facilities & Infrastructure.

2. Guest Experience:

• Cultivate a guest-centric culture for exceptional service and satisfaction.
• Create and deliver unique, tailored experiences for clientele.
• Monitor and respond to guest feedback, implementing improvements.

3. Team Development:

• Invest in team development through systematic recruiting, ongoing training, and recognition programs.
• Foster a positive and inclusive work environment, encouraging professionalism and growth.

4. Financial Management:

• Develop and manage the resort business plan for financial sustainability and profitability.
• Implement internal controls, optimize spending, and maintain high-quality service standards.

5. Community Engagement:

• Build positive relationships with the local community and stakeholders.
• Contribute to community events, enhancing the resort’s positive impact on the local area.

6. Sustainable Practices:

• Spearhead eco-friendly practices aligning with environmental responsibility commitments.
• Implement initiatives for energy conservation, waste reduction, and responsible sourcing.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a General Manager of a full-service resort (opening experience is a plus).
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to set high standards.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver financial performance.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Familiarity with Zanzibar or similar “frontier” markets.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Higher degree preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant hotel management experience.
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of French or German would be a plus.
