Permanent – 80 hours per fortnight – involvement in on-call roster

$76,053 per annum PLUS an on-call allowance

based in Kapiti Coast area

Work vehicle included – can also be used for personal use

  • PLEASE NOTE: this role will require car travel across the Horowhenua, Levin and Kapiti region on a regular basis. The actual IDEA office you will be mainly working from is located in the Paraparaumu area.

Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for the delivery of our Supported Living and Choices services for people who have intellectual disabilities living in their own homes. You will play a hugely important part in providing services to help people:
  • Manage and learn new daily living skills, such as cooking, cleaning and managing money
  • Meet new people and make friends
  • Keep in touch with family and friends
  • Access community services and activities
  • Achieve their goals and aspirations
  • We are looking for a real ‘people’ person, to build strong relationships with the people we support and their whānau. You will identify individual needs and determine how these can best be achieved. This is meaningful work where you can be creative and make every day interesting in ways that really make a difference in people’s lives.
  • You will be responsible for supporting and guiding a team of Support Workers to deliver the best possible outcomes for the people we support. We are looking for someone with the passion and expertise to coach and develop the skills within their team of Support Workers.

Responsibilities Include

  • Planning and ensuring delivery of support services for people with disabilities
  • Managing and developing a strong team of Support Workers
  • Building positive relationships with whānau including their involvement in the care of their loved ones
  • Planning and coordinating the work of your team to ensure the best service outcomes are achieved (including rostering and staff training)
  • Celebrating the achievements of the people we support
  • Implementing best practice strategies and managing health & safety requirements

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring

Previous experience within the health and disability sector is highly desirable

Strong people management experience, including the ability to lead, coach and support a team of people to achieve the best outcomes

Relevant technical experience (e.g. rostering, budgets and planning, risk management etc)

Demonstrated awareness, sensitivity and commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi

Computer skills, including MS Office Suite, and the ability to learn new systems quickly

We provide 24/7 services all year around so the ability to participate in the on-call roster is essential to the delivery of our services

A full NZ drivers licence
