About PRASA
Founded in 1990, PRASA or Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa is a government-owned enterprise providing commuter rail services within the metropolitan areas of South Africa. PRASA also provides rail and bus services within the country as well.
The headquarters of the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa is located in Johannesburg and is responsible for most of the passenger rail services in South Africa. PRASA comprises four branches, Autopax, Intersite, Metrorail and Shosholoza Meyl. The company reports to the Minister of Transport and currently boasts of 17,000 staff members.
PRASA aims to become a modern transportation public entity capable of providing passenger services on a sustainable basis. The company values the performance benchmark set by the founders and is determined to become the leader in passenger transport solutions.

PRASA (Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa) Bursary 2022
Each year, PRASA offers bursaries for studies in Technical, Engineering, and Operation courses. The recipients of the bursary have to enter into a contract with PRASA. PRASA aims to emerge as one of the best railway networks in South America by expanding its fleet of trains and rail network countrywide. The company believes in the talent and determination of the youth of South Africa and therefore sows opportunities to bring their talent to the forefront.
The developing economy of South Africa is the indicator of future prospects for the country, however, obtaining skilled labour is yet difficult to tackle. Therefore, the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa awards bursaries, scholarships and internships to guide the youth in the right direction.
Bursary Coverage
The PRASA bursary covers a wide range of expenses including:
Accommodation and meals on campus
Prescribed books
Registration fees
Tuition fees
Note: The bursary does not cover any outstanding debts or personal loans of the students.
The selected applicant needs to sign a contract with PRASA
PRASA can withdraw the bursary if the applicant has a bursary with any other organization.
Eligibility Criteria For The PRASA Bursary
Mentioned down below are the eligibility criteria for the PRASA bursary 2022
Must be a South-African citizen
The candidate must have completed Matric and must be pursuing full-time education in one of the fields mentioned in the bursary i.e., Technical, Engineering or Operation courses.
The applicant has to be a student of an accredited and recognized tertiary institute in South Africa.
The candidate must have an impressive and maintained academic award
The candidate must not receive any other bursary awards.

The documents required for registering the bursary are:
Certified copy of ID document
Certified copy of matric certificates
Certified copy of a recent academic record on the letterhead of the institution
Closing Date Of The PRASA Bursary
The application deadline is 30 September 2022. Any application submitted after the closing date will not be entertained, therefore, the application has to be submitted before the given date.
