Banyan Global is recruiting a Senior Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Advisor for the anticipated Learning to Perform Activity for the USAID Mission in Malawi. The Senior M&E Advisor will support a range of activities related to performance monitoring, evaluations, assessments, and research. The position is full-time and based in Lilongwe, Malawi and is contingent on funding. Citizens of Malawi are encouraged to apply.
Liaise with USAID/Malawi and develop rapid responses to requests for monitoring, evaluation, and research activities;
Provide technical leadership, ensuring all approaches employ rigorous methods and high-quality, state-of-the-art practices;
Maintain technical oversight of staff, consultants, subcontractors, data-collectors, and other technical specialists tasked in developing high-quality monitoring, evaluation, and research findings;
Ensure high quality throughout monitoring, evaluation and research activities including the design of activities, development of data collection instruments, data collection, data analysis, and the presentation of findings;
Serve as the principal investigator or a key evaluation team member for strategic evaluations and research;
Lead meta-evaluations and meta-analyses across multiple sectors, development objectives, evaluations, assessments, research, and high-level monitoring;
Design and develop field data validation plans and appropriate methodologies and instruments and conduct and/or oversees corresponding data analysis;
Support the collection, cleaning, coding, and analyzing of data for evaluations, assessments, and other analytical activities;
Test data reliability and validity, including conducting Data Quality Assessments (DQAs) of USAID Activities;
Facilitate MEL trainings for Mission staff, IPs, and other partners;
Oversee support for data management, GIS services, and knowledge management,
Maintain strong networks with the M&E community in Malawi, and
Other responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
A Master's degree or higher in a relevant field such as monitoring and evaluation, data science, statistics, development studies/affairs, and social sciences
At least eight years of experience working in M&E, preferably on USAID or other donor-funded awards in Malawi;
Professional experience in at least one of the following thematic areas democracy and governance, positive youth development, economic growth, health, education, and gender and social inclusion.
Familiarity with quantitative and qualitative analytical software packages.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated familiarity with ADS 201, and
Experience working for USAID or on a USAID-funded award.
