ABOUT WFP

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
  • In Haiti, WFP is implementing a varied portfolio of programs to meet the immediate food needs of the most vulnerable populations until the development of innovative solutions to build and improve public systems and policies in sectors such as food. education, food systems or social protection.
  • WFP is expanding its geographical base in Haiti with the opening of a new office in Jérémie which will facilitate the implementation of a social protection net under the direction of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor (MAST), but also a better preparation and response to emergencies in this part of the country.

 
Main responsibilities of the position:
  • The Head of Jeremy's office will work under the direct supervision of the Deputy Country Director. She / he will be responsible in particular for:
  • Effectively manage Jérémie's sub-office to ensure the development and cohesion of a high-performance team;
  • Plan and manage field activities in the department of Grand'Anse to ensure that WFP assistance is delivered effectively to populations and partners, and that operational problems are prevented or resolved quickly;
  • Ensure that the resources allocated to the sub-office are used efficiently and according to the established plans and report any deviations to the country office;
  • Take the necessary measures, in coordination with the country office security unit and UNDSS, to ensure the security of WFP staff, operations, premises and property in the Grand'Anse department, in order to ensure that WFP safety and security standards are established and respected locally;
  •  Actively monitor and evaluate activities in a timely manner and prepare accurate and comprehensive reports on WFP operations and activities submitted regularly and in a timely manner;
  • Build fluid and collaborative relationships with local authorities and contribute to the sharing of expertise and capacity building for effective preparation and response to food assistance needs in the sub-office area of ​​operation;
  • Establish partnerships to improve assistance programs, develop and maintain lasting relationships with international and local NGOs, UN agencies, civil society organizations, communities, and other partners engaged in the area of ​​food security;
  • Ensure an extensive and frequent presence in project areas, sites and distribution centers;
  • Ensure a regular link with the Management, Program, Policy and M&E units of the Country Office as well as with other units as needed;
  • Receive, analyze and transmit to the country office requests for food assistance and technical support;

Required Skills :
  • Understanding of WFP's strategic objectives and the link with the specific objectives of the position;
  • Ability to adapt the work objectives of the sub-office team to the strategic and operational needs of WFP in Haiti;
  • Ability to communicate to the sub-office team the strategic vision of WFP and how the individual contribution of each contributes to the achievement of WFP's strategic objectives in Haiti;

Required experience:
  • Developed or participated in the development of work plans for the achievement of strategic objectives of WFP or other organization;
  • Has experience in managing a small field office in Haiti, including managing relationships with institutional and operational partners;
  • Can demonstrate some experience in analyzing the political and security situation at the local level and taking into account risks;
  • Has acquired technical experience in a field of expertise related to WFP's main activities in Haiti (food assistance, nutrition, disaster risk management, social protection, resilience, etc.);
  • Led or participate in negotiations with institutional, operational or commercial partners;
  • Has been exposed to emergency food assistance operations and / or government institutional capacity building projects, particularly in social protection;
 

Qualifications Required:

Education:

University degree in one of the following fields: economics, rural development, agronomy, social sciences, public health / nutrition; political Sciences ;


Experience :

Minimum of five years of professional experience in a field relevant to the profile of the position


Tongue :

Perfect command of French and English. Knowledge of Haitian Creole essential.
